Embodying the Change and the Occupy Movement

A couple of friends of mine were arrested Monday morning morning when the Occupy Oakland camp was disbanded by the police. They were meditating in front of City Hall, practicing non-violence in the most dramatic way.

I believe this kind of peaceful non-resistance is the most powerful way that the Occupy Movement can affect real, meaningful, spiritual change. The image alone says so much. Pancho sits in peace, with a loving smile on his face while police officers clad in armor and fear tie his hands and take him into custody.

Pancho represents the essence of what the Occupy Movement should be about. As he is being arrested he sits in ease and non-resistance. He rests with the confidence that he is doing the right thing. He doesn't fight the officers because he is not being arrested by them, he is being arrested for them. He knows that we are all interconnected and his enemy is not the police, the government or the corporations but the fear that drives them and creates all of the world's problems.

He acts from love. He embodies this love and demonstrates it with his sheer presence. His love transforms hearts and minds, it opens people to trust and respect each other and to open to new possibilites in the way we live. Nothing more powerfully can transform economic, political and social systems than our love.

Thank you Pancho and the other spiritual warriors for your love and courage. You are inspiration to me to more deeply embody and act from this love. Let us all act from this place and we'll create the Revolution of Consciousness.
